Early Start: Capturing the Vitta Hotel 3*

The year's first shoot: Hotel photography in Budapest

We don't just photograph luxury 5-star hotels; we're also approached by 3-4 star hotels for hotel photography assignments. In May, when the trees have already turned green, we had the opportunity to take exterior photos for hotels. However, in downtown Budapest, where the internal spaces of hotels are often more important, interior photography takes precedence as it sells the hotel.

As a hotel photographer, early rising is a must.

We arrived early in the morning, even before breakfast. We asked the hotel management to have the breakfast spread ready at least half an hour earlier so that we could capture the breakfast area in its full glory in our photos. Even if the first guests appeared at 7 a.m., it didn't pose a problem for us because by then, we had already photographed the food untouched. It was during this time that we took interior photos of the breakfast room and detailed shots of the offerings.

Photographing hotel rooms: Bedding issues

Following this, we continued the photoshoot in the four different room types during the day, where we faced difficulties with the bedding. It is particularly important in hotel images that the bedding is not wrinkled, as it detracts from the overall impression. However, we aimed for realistic results. We employed various methods, including using clips, tucking in, and manually stretching the bedding.

Afterwards, we even ironed the bedding to achieve the best possible outcome. Photographing the hotel bathrooms was somewhat easier, especially since each room type had the same bathroom, except for the Superior rooms, which we photographed separately.

Photographing the hotel lobby and lounge

After capturing images of the hotel rooms, we proceeded to photograph the lobby and lounge areas. This choice of timing was deliberate, as there were no incoming or outgoing guests at this time, allowing us to photograph these spaces while they were empty. The tranquility enabled us to capture the best photographs of the hotel's communal areas.

We always made sure to clear the reception desk of any signage or clutter, as these would have detracted from the ambiance in the interior photos. It was important to us that the images reflected the comfort of the lobby and lounge, so we carefully selected the composition to create the best impression on prospective guests.

Sunset: Photographing the hotel's exterior facade

During every hotel photoshoot, we also take detailed shots that can be widely used on Booking.com and other accommodation booking websites. These images showcase room setup, bathroom amenities, bathrobes, and ambiance. Additionally, at sunset, we captured photographs of the exterior facade, both in portrait and landscape formats, to ensure that the hotel photos can be utilized to their fullest extent.
